ABOUT US

SCO Family of Services, headquartered in Glen Cove, New York, with offices and services in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Manhattan, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, is one of the largest not-for-profit child and family services agencies in New York State. SCO Family of Services's mission is to care for those most at risk. Honored by both public and private organizations for its success and standard of excellence, SCO Family of Services focuses on three primary areas of care: community-based preventive services, residential programs for children and adults with special needs, foster care and adoption.

SCO Family of Services's services extend from New York City to the far reaches of Long Island, providing care for children and families in need. More than 5,000 children, families, and adults with special needs, receive care and support at 86 locations throughout Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island.

  • SCO Family of Services's programs provide care and services for more than 5,000 New York City and Long Island children and their families. Additional programs provide services for adults with special needs.
  • There are 80 SCO Family of Services locations in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and on Long Island.

SCO Family of Services cares for:

  • 2,600 children and adolescents who need temporary homes while SCO Family of Services works with their families to enable them to provide a safe and nurturing home.
  • 400 children and adolescents who are severely emotionally disturbed. Care is provided at the Madonna Heights Campus in Dix Hills, LI, at the Ottilie Campus in Jamaica, Queens and the SCO Family of Services Community Residences in Queens Village and Deer Park. Additionally, a therapeutic Family Based Treatment program provides care and treatment in the homes of "professional parents."
  • More than 400 developmentally disabled children and adults through 10 residential programs, a Foster Care program for this special population, and in-home services that allow children and adults to remain in their own homes.

SCO Family of Services provides:

  • Community based preventive services that are building blocks for the development of a healthy neighborhood. These services are aimed at helping families build on their strengths in order to overcome obstacles to self sufficiency.
  • Care and shelter for the homeless. Twenty-six homeless families live at the Stockholm Family Residence in Brooklyn; also in Brooklyn, the agency has two transitional living programs for homeless and runaway teens. In Long Island's Suffolk County, seven shelters for homeless women and their children are part of the Madonna Heights network.

SCO Family of Services believes:

That by supporting and nurturing the individual as well as the family unit, the entire community is strengthened and the quality of life is improved for all.
