BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide music therapy services in group and individual setting, to meet psychosocial, creative, expressive, cultural and recreational needs of adolescent male and female residents. Certified music therapist preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer “activity assessment” interviews on new admissions and complete annual assessments on residents scheduled for review, in order to assess residents’ current skills, talents and recreational interests and needs.
- Attend scheduled treatment planning meetings and provide input into Resident Treatment Plan, focusing on development and inclusion of Habilitation Treatment Plan Objective as arrived at through annual and monthly reviews.
- Function as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team by assuming the following responsibilities:
- Partcipate in treatment plan “process.”
- Contribute recommendations based upon assessment information as well as from resident’s performances in Music Therapy Program.
- Provide constructive/support services utilizing music therapy for residents on individualized programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Music Therapy or a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy with Board Certification and Registration by Music Therapy Association, or a Master’s Degree with proven musical competency and at least one year of experience in a Human Services field.
- Acceptable background clearance check through State Central Register and compliance with health regulations for physical examination and Mantoux testing.
