501 (C) (3) Status of SCO Family of Services

On March 25, 1945 the Internal Revenue Service ruled that all agencies connected with the Roman Catholic Church in the United States and found listed in The Official Catholic Directory, published by P.J. Kenedy & Sons, were exempt from federal income tax.  The IRS has repeated this ruling each year since, most recently on July 1, 2007.  A copy of the letter doing so is attached.

SCO Family of Services is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn (*as well as with the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies.)  It appears in the 2006 edition of The Official Catholic Directory under the Diocese of Brooklyn (page 177).  Its 501(c) (3) status is thereby affirmed.
